New law on immovable property registration approved

The Parliament has approved the Law 33/2012 `On the registration of immovable property`. This Law, compared with the earlier law on registration of immovable property, provides for the reorganization of the Immovable Property Registration Office as a public, legal, non-budgetary entity, under the Minister of Justice. The Board of Directors and the Chief Registrar are the managing bodies of the Immovable Property Registration Office. In relation with the procedures of registration and changes to registrations, the Law comes with some changes as compared to the previous law, whilst main changes are related to the registration of immovable property in favour of the two spouses (in case the buyer is married), registration of building permits and also the new law defines that a service should be delivered within a maximum term of 15 days starting from the date of application at the Immovable Property Registration Office.
