Civil Code additions and amendments

The Parliament has adopted on February 16, 2012, the Law 17/2012 `On some additions and amendments to the Law No.7580, dated 29.07.1994 `Civil Code of the Republic of Albania`, as amended`.
The Law sets a 1 (one) year term of prescription for damages claim for a harm done on ones honour, personality or reputation.
A person that has suffered a damage, other than in his property, in addition to previous cases defined by Civil Code, may claim damages for harm done on ones physical or psychological integrity, reputation, name or private life rights.
After these changes, the Civil Code envisages also methods and criteria for defining civil liability and the amount of non-pecuniary damage.
